EMS Hall of Fame

Mid-Coast EMS is excited to induct the third group of individuals into the EMS Hall of Fame. This honor had been designed to recognize individuals who represent the ideal of service to others. Inductees will be chosen from all areas of Maine by a committee from the Mid-Coast EMS Council. If you have an individual who you feel embodies the ideals of community involvement, the promotion of the profession, involvement as mentor, and years of dedicated service to EMS in Maine.

 

Emergency Medical Dispatcher

 

This service recognition award is dedicated to 9-1-1 emergency dispatch professionals who receive and process emergency calls for medical assistance throughout the state.  State, county or municipal dispatch center, this award recognizes the critical difference that an EMD trained, professional dispatcher can make in the outcome of a life-threatening 9-1-1 event.  Nominees for this award must come from the dispatch profession (full or part-time) and must be EMD trained and certified.  The nomination must document a critical, challenging medical call in which the EMD dispatcher rose to the occasion, demonstrating his/her skills in processing a 9-1-1 call.  Nominee must have demonstrated exemplary qualities such as calm under pressure, maturity, advanced skills, determination, adherence to protocols, and knowledge of the dispatch profession that demonstrates the motto of “Dispatchers-the FIRST, First Responders”.

 

EMS Educator of Excellence

 

Honoring an individual EMS instructor who has contributed to the development and growth of EMS education in the state of Maine.  An individual who through outstanding teaching, educational administration / coordination, publication or research has maximally improved pre-hospital services at the local, county, regional or state level.  This individual must be an EMS Educator or equivalent.

 

EMS Service of the Year

 

To honor an EMS service for their contribution to the development and growth of quality EMS services within their community.  An EMS service that:  Participates in community oriented activities, demonstrates a consistent pattern of rapid response times and staffing levels, cooperates with surrounding public safety organizations, and emphasizes personnel training, continuing education, and professional development.

 

Extraordinary Call

 

We are looking for applications from all six EMS Regions.   Applications may be submitted by municipal, private, non-profit, or volunteer ambulance/non transporting services, hospitals, or dispatch centers.
